OOGA Safety Seminars
On Monday, September 28, 2009, the Ohio Oil & Gas Association hosted a seminar entitled "How to Successfully Manage OSHA Inspections and Investigations". Professionals involved in the risk management field presented valuable information that will benefit all OOGA members.
Highlights of the presentation included:
- Types of inspections (programmed, unprogrammed, and complaints)
- Opening conference (questions to ask, choosing a company representative to work with an inspector, and determining the scope of the investigation)
- Conduct of the inspection (company protocols, evidence gathering, photos, and samplings, and interviews with employees and management)
- Document review (company program/policy manuals, OSHA 300 documents, and inspection limitations of documents)
- Post inspection (closing conference, types of violations and corresponding penalties)
A self inspection checklist was made available to all in attendance. The checklist is extensive. However, it should be noted that this document is not all encompassing. It is simply an aid for companies to objectively look at the areas of focus during an OSHA investigation.
For those who could not attend, the following documents were distributed during this training:
