Josh Abrams is a partner at Oliva Gibbs LLP, where he advises on title opinions, division order title opinions, and all aspects of complex upstream oil and gas and minerals transactions, including purchase and sale agreements and due diligence. His practice areas include drilling contracts, oil and gas leasing, mineral transactions, surface use, title matters and unitization and pooling. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from DePauw University and a J.D. with honors from Capital University Law School.
Brian Boyer
Brian Boyer is a Shareholder and Director of the firm and an active member of the firm’s Energy and Natural Resources, Privacy and Cyber Security, and Real Estate practice groups. Brian advises energy clients in connection with various business and regulatory matters, including the acquisition and divestiture of oil, gas and mineral assets, permitting, unit operations and development, and the negotiation and drafting of leases, easements and rights of way, joint operating agreements, and purchase and sale agreements. Halli Brownfield Watson
Halli Brownfield Watson is an attorney for the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. She previously worked for seven years at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office representing statewide officeholders in litigated matters. She also spent seven years in private practice at law firms in Cleveland and Dayton. Halli went to law school at Cleveland State University where she served on Law Review. She earned her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University where she majored in French, Economics, and Political Science.Â
Alycia Broz
Alycia is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the firm’s litigation practice group. Alycia has provided strategic advice and counsel for more than two decades to commercial and retail clients across the country. She represents companies and individuals in a wide variety of complex litigation matters. She has extensive experience in antitrust, commercial, class action, insurance, securities and civil rights litigation. In addition, Alycia has extensive knowledge of retail payment strategies and has helped retailers navigate their payment relationships.
Keith Coyle
Keith Coyle is a member of the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office and a shareholder in the Energy and Natural Resources, Environmental and Transportation Safety groups and Pipeline and HazMat Safety practice. Mr. Coyle advises clients throughout the United States on energy matters, but his practice focuses primarily on the regulation of pipelines and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities and the transportation of hazardous materials. Mr. Coyle currently represents some of the country’s most important pipeline industry trade organizations as well as various regional, national, and multinational energy companies. Mr. Coyle earned an LL.M. in Law & Government from American University in 2006, and a J.D. in Integrated Trial Advocacy from Temple University in 2005. He graduated from Lehigh University in 2000, earning a B.A. with Highest Honors in International Relations.
Eric Gallon
Eric Gallon handles a variety of complex business and corporate litigation matters involving energy law, environmental law and complex commercial disputes. His practice includes work with chemical and industrial manufacturing entities, as well as energy exploration, production, transmission and distribution companies. He earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago.
Andrew Good
Andrew represents companies active in the oil and gas industry in both litigation and arbitration matters, from risk management to trial. He also advises clients on compliance and regulatory issues and handles proceedings in front of administrative agencies / governmental bodies, including the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Ohio Department of Commerce. He earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a J.D. from Capital University Law School.
Andrew Graham
Andy Graham focuses his practice in the areas of energy and mineral law (oil and gas, coal, and coalbed methane), real estate, and commercial transactions. Mr. Graham regularly assists clients with mineral title examinations, coordinating and performing due diligence, buying and selling mineral assets, and issues related to surface use and compensation arising from mineral development.
Jason Lucas
Jason Lucas is a member at Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC, where he focuses on the areas of energy transactions and natural resources law. His experience includes major energy transactions, large-scale due diligence projects, mineral title opinions, defect and curative reports, purchase and sale agreements, and closings. He also serves as the Second Vice President of the National Association of Division Order Analysts (NADOA). He earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a J.D. from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law.
Matthew Onest
Matthew Onest has more than nine years’ experience protecting the interests of manufacturers, businesses of all sizes, property owners, and energy companies in all aspects of civil litigation. Matthew also practices in several federal courts throughout the United States. Matthew is also a member of the firm’s oil and gas practice group and has successfully represented companies and landowners in many aspects, including civil litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings before the Public Utilities Commission and the Ohio Oil and Gas Commission. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Mount Union and a J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law.
Ryan Richardson
Ryan Richardson currently serves as the Director of Litigation for the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. She previously served as the Assistant Section Chief for the Constitutional Offices Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, where she advised and represented Ohio’s elected officials. Ryan also spent seven years in private practice in Washington DC, where her practice focused on complex products liability and class action litigation. Ryan began her legal career as a judicial clerk, first with Judge Hamilton, US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and then with Judge Cook, US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Ryan graduated summa cum laude from Washington University School of Law.
Bryan Roth
Bryan started off his oil and gas career as a tooly/roughneck in the Michigan Basin, working on cable-tool rigs during summers in his college years. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1988 with a degree in geology, followed by a stint mudlogging in California and Alaska. In 1992, he graduated with a masters degree in geophysics from Wright State University followed up by three years with Amoco Production Company in the international division as an exploration geophysicist. In 1995 Bryan started his consulting company and worked the Appalachian Basin and Michigan Basin. Bryan resides in Traverse City, Michigan and continues to develop prospects for industry partners.
Christina Wieg
Christina focuses her practice on environmental litigation, transactional and regulatory matters, including work involving the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and other major state and federal environmental regulatory programs. Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, Christina was employed by Ohio EPA for more than a dozen years, rising to the level of Supervisor in the Division of Air Pollution Control. Christina graduated summa cum laude from Capital University Law School in 2019 and was awarded the prestigious American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education Scholarship and Leadership Award, which recognizes the single graduate who best represents a combination of scholarship and leadership.

Nicholas Austin
Nick Austin is a Sr Energy Advisor in Exxon Mobil’s Corporate Strategic Planning group. In this role, Nick is responsible for developing insights on strategic topics related to energy policy and markets. Prior to his current role, Nick has spent more than 15 years with ExxonMobil, holding a range of leadership and technical roles for upstream projects in North America, South America, and, Africa. Nick holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Geology from the University of British Columbia and a PhD in Geophysics from MIT.  Â
Shawn Bennett
Shawn Bennett is the Energy and Resilience Division Manager at Battelle, where he oversees all government-funded energy projects awarded to Battelle. In this role, he primarily focuses on opportunities in Carbon Capture and Storage, Hydrogen, Rare Earth Elements and Critical Minerals, and Direct Air Capture. Mr. Bennett is a former Managing Director at FTI Consulting in their Energy and Natural Resources sector. Mr. Bennett is also the former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Oil and Natural Gas at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he oversaw the Department’s research and development in the oil and gas sector, policy analysis, methane quantification and mitigation, and regulated LNG export authorizations for the United States.
Jeff Bolyard
Jeff Bolyard has been in the energy business for 35 years and started his career working for TC Energy/Columbia Gas Transmission, a FERC regulated interstate pipeline, in various roles in the accounting and marketing groups. From there he worked for a regional natural gas marketer where he bought production and sold gas to industrial and commercial clients. Jeff has held various positions within Edison Energy over the past 23 years as an advisor to large industrial clients, designing and implementing their physical and financial procurement strategies, the management of pipeline and storage assets and the negotiation of utility agreements. He is currently responsible for the development of energy market intelligence for Edison Energy, with a focus on the fundamental market price drivers across several commodities. His exposure to various aspects of the energy industry has allowed him to have insight into the complex and constantly changing energy industry.
Dorinda Byers
Dorinda Byers brings more than 20 years of experience in workforce, outreach, and economic development. Early in her journey, Dorinda found a niche in launching and accelerating business consulting practices within organizations and institutions. With a passion for not only growing her employers’ consulting practices, but also driving unprecedented results for the clients with whom she partnered, Dorinda installed the processes, policies, systems, and service offerings to create a solid infrastructure on which to continue to build services and bottom lines for clients. Dorinda holds a Master's Degree from Muskingum University and a Bachelor's from Ohio State.
Jay Edwards
State Representative Jay Edwards is serving his fourth term in the Ohio House. He represents the 94th Ohio House District, which includes all of Athens, Meigs and Morgan counties and the southwest portion of Washington County. Representative Edwards is the Chairman of the House Finance Committee, which is responsible for producing the state’s main operating budget and capital budget. He also serves on the House Rules and Reference Committee.
James Elliott
James Elliott is Counsel at Spilman Thomas & Battle. His primary areas of practice are civil and criminal environmental law with experience in appellate and district court litigation, agency rulemaking, compliance counseling, and administrative adjudication with special emphasis on Clean Air Act matters. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Bucknell University and his J.D. from Pace University School of Law.
Amanda Finn
Amanda Finn is the Director of External Affairs for Ascent Resources, where she is the liaison to local, state, and federal officials on issues affecting not only Ascent but the industry as a whole. She is also Chair of the Ohio Oil & Gas Association. Finn previously worked as Government Relations Manager for Magnum Hunter Resources, Eureka Midstream, and GreenHunter Resources. She has also chaired OOGA’s Government Affairs Committee, serves on the WEN board and is a member of AXPC.
She has a background in Marketing and Business Development and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.
Anthony Geissinger
Anthony Geissinger is a water consultant for Southwestern Energy. Before joining Southwestern, he was the water superintendent for Eclipse Resources and Montage Resources. In his role his primary focuses are ROW acquisition, water transfer and water recycling operations. Geissinger has over 10 years of experience overseeing all aspects of water management.
Gibran Hashmi
Dr. Gibran Hashmi is a global reservoir engineering advisor with Wireline & Perforating at Halliburton. His areas of interest include reservoir characterization, well testing, production analysis, reservoir simulation, fluid and heat transfer in wellbores, petrophysics and geomechanics. During his time in the industry, Dr. Hashmi has worked extensively on reservoirs globally, analyzing pressure transient tests in different lithologies worldwide. He has helped pioneer multiple methodologies and workflows in the field of formation testing during his time with Halliburton. He has co-authored more than 15 industry publications and holds four patent applications. He conducts frequent internal trainings on aspects of reservoir engineering and formation testing and sampling. Dr. Hashmi holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota, and master’s and PhD degrees in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University.
Matt Huffman
Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman is currently serving his second term in the Ohio Senate, representing the 12th Senate District. He previously served four terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, including as Speaker Pro Tempore, and has served on Lima City Council. Senator Huffman has practiced law for the past 30 years in his family’s private practice law firm in downtown Lima. He earned a degree in Government from the University of Notre Dame in 1982 and his law degree from the University of Cincinnati School of Law in 1985.
Al Landis
Senator Al Landis is currently in his first term serving the 31st Ohio Senate District, which includes all of Tuscarawas, Wayne and Muskingum counties and parts of Stark and Guernsey counties. After retiring in 2009, he ran for the Ohio House of Representatives in 2010, going on to serve four terms. During his time representing the 96th House District and later the 98th House District, Landis served on a number of key committees, including Agriculture & Natural Resources, Commerce & Labor, and Economic Development. He served as Vice Chair of the Armed Forces & Veteran’s Affairs Committee for four years and as Chair of the Energy & Natural Resources Committee for four years.
Desmond Murphy
Desmond Murphy has worked at Halliburton for 26 years and is currently the Business Development Technology Manager in the Northeast Area. He leads the Technical Team in providing multi-PSL solutions to technical challenges in unconventional reservoirs. He earned an associate degree from Wodonga College of TAFE and a Certificate in Maintenance Engineering from the Australian Army.
Dan Romito
Dan Romito is a consulting partner at Pickering Energy Partners focusing on quantitative ESG strategy and implementation. Throughout his career, Dan has advised several hundred private companies, public issuers, and asset managers on how to optimize capital deployment strategies, pursue quality pools of capital and employ ESG-related directives. A substantial portion of his experience has centered on helping the Energy, Industrial, Materials, and Utility space navigate ESG-focused data providers, frameworks, disclosures, and the corresponding investor landscape. Dan received a BA from the University of Chicago, an MBA in Finance from DePaul University, and is a professor at Marquette University where he teaches ESG implementation, strategy, and certification.
Tim Schaffer
Senator Tim Schaffer is currently serving in his third term in the Ohio Senate in the 20th District, which encompasses Fairfield and Licking counties, as well as portions of Perry County.  Senator Schaffer was first elected to the Ohio House in 2000. After serving three terms he was elected to the 31st Senate District.  He returned to the House in 2015. A veteran legislator, Senator Schaffer chairs the Senate's Standing Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Bill Seitz
State Representative Bill Seitz began serving in the Ohio legislature in 2000 and currently serves as the House Majority Floor Leader. During his time at the Statehouse, he rose through the ranks, serving as Majority Whip and Assistant Majority Whip and chair of the Civil and Commercial Law Committee. Seitz served in the Ohio Senate from 2007 to 2016, where he led the Public Utilities Committee and was Vice Chairman of the Government Oversight & Reform Committee. He has since returned to the Ohio House, serving the 30th House District near Cincinnati.
Brittany Sheckler
Brittany Sheckler has been a teacher at Marlington High School for 10 years, two of which she taught the Natural Resources Energy Program. She earned a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University in Agricultural Education and recently graduated with a Masters of Science in Agricultural Leadership, Communication, and Education from the University of Missouri. Brittany and her husband have been married for 10 years and have a six-year-old daughter, Ellie.
Marty Shumway
Marty Shumway has been involved in the resource industry for most of his career. He has more than 25 years of experience in the mining and petroleum industries and has extensive experience with both exploration and development of oil and gas properties. Mr. Shumway is a Professional Engineer in Ohio and a Certified Petroleum Geologist (AAPG). He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from The Ohio State University. Mr. Shumway currently serves as Senior Vice President for Locus Bio-Energy, an Ohio-based producer of biosurfactants. Locus has developed specialty oil and gas chemistries for completion and production with sales across major US basins and internationally.
Jason Simmerman
Jason Simmerman has worked at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for 14 years and is currently the Orphan Well Program Manager for the department’s Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio University along with his surveying certificate.
Jason Stephens
Speaker Jason Stephens proudly serves as state representative to the 93rd District. Stephens is in his second full term in the Ohio House after being appointed in 2019 and represents Gallia, Jackson, and Lawrence Counties. Since 1996, Stephens has been a licensed insurance agent at Stephens & Son Insurance Agency, Inc. and, since 1999, is a co-owner of Stephens & Son Insurance of Chesapeake, Inc. In 1993, Stephens graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance and Business Management.
Bruce Tague
Bruce L. Tague was named the Executive Director of the Ohio Natural Energy Institute in 2023. Tague brings more than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors to the role, having previously worked in public policy, state, and federal government. This includes his important work in the construction and completion of the NEXUS Pipeline. Tague lives in Knox County with his wife and their two sons.
William Watson
William Watson is the superintendent of the Utica-Shale CareerTech Dropout Recovery School, now in his fifth year. His background includes roles in both gas-fired and nuclear power plants and as an operator, I and C tech, safety coordinator, and instrument and controls tech instructor. At Utica-Shale, he focuses on guiding students towards careers in the oil and gas industry.
DJ Wheeler
DJ Wheeler has more than 15 years of air regulatory experience with expertise in all sectors of the oil and gas industry through multiple engagements with clients such as Enbridge, Energy Transfer, Marathon, Blue Racer, Artex, SWN, DT Midstream, and Aspire Energy. He has assisted these clients with the interpretation and implementation of US EPA’s New Source Performance Standards for the oil and gas industry including the preparation of comments on proposed regulations including US EPA’s latest Methane Rule. His experience includes on-site compliance auditing, state level air quality construction permitting, Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting, Title V compliance management, periodic reporting, air dispersion modeling, and regulatory plan development. He has prepared and supervised construction permitting applications for numerous clients in all sectors of the oil and gas industry. Additionally, he teaches Trinity’s Air Quality Permitting in Ohio course. Wheeler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Jay Witt
Jay has worked in the Oil and Gas profession for over a decade and has served in engineering management and executive roles with multiple companies. Jay has worked for Antero Midstream for six years and currently serves as the Director of Antero’s Water Business. Prior to entering the Oil and Gas industry Jay worked as a consulting engineer, in public works at the City of Roanoke, Virginia and as a United States Marine, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jay is a licensed professional engineer and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University.

Anne Bradbury
Anne Bradbury has served as CEO of AXPC since 2019, where she leads aspects of AXPC’s federal public policy efforts, advocating for regulations and policies that will enable U.S. independent producers to continue leading the world in energy development that meets the highest environmental and safety standards. She previously served as one of the top legislative strategists and technicians in Congress as Floor Director to two successive Speakers of the House of Representatives and Deputy Floor Director in the Offices of both the Majority and Minority Leader. During her decade-long career on Capitol Hill, Bradbury was instrumental in the implementation and adoption of major rules packages and legislative initiatives ranging from reforms to national security and intelligence policy to health care, energy, transportation, trade, and education policy passed by the House of Representatives. Ms. Bradbury most recently served as a partner at the Duberstein Group.
Brent Breon
Brent serves as the Chief Commercial Officer at Pin Oak Energy Partners and President of Pin Oak Midstream. He is responsible for natural gas, oil, and NGL marketing, gas transportation and processing agreements as well as all midstream services and operations provided by Pin Oak Midstream. Brent is also co-founder and Vice President of Power Systems at Magellan Scientific, an affiliate of Pin Oak Energy Partners engaged in the development of on-grid and off-grid decentralized data centers. Brent was previously Vice President of Business Development at Caiman Energy and Blue Racer Midstream. Brent graduated from The University of Akron with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and a master’s in business administration. Brent serves on the Board of the Ohio Natural Energy Institute and is a member of the Project Review Committee with the Ohio Oil and Gas Association.
Christy Chavez
A native of Marietta, Ohio, Christy Chavez currently serves as the managing member of Reno Oil & Gas LLC which manages the operations and field maintenance of more than 400 conventional gas and oil wells. She also currently manages well plugging contracts for Chavez Well Service LLC. She earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University in 1993. Her career began at Intel Corporation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her dedication to the oil and gas industry is exemplified by her term as president of SOOGA (Southeastern Oil & Gas Association), and her longstanding service on the board of trustees for 14 years. Christy received the SOOGA Work Horse award in 2014 and is member of OOGA (Ohio Oil & Gas Association) and WEN (Women in Energy). Additionally, she has served on the Executive Board of Shale Crescent USA since 2015 and was appointed to the Board of the Marietta Community Foundation in November of 2023. Christy and her husband, Brian Chavez, have two sons and reside in Marietta, Ohio.
Steve Downey
Steve has enjoyed a 37-year career in the natural gas industry having worked in finance, strategic planning, commercial operations, A&D and natural gas marketing. He has served as the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer for several Appalachian Oil & Gas producers. He is a former Chairman of the Ohio Oil & Gas Association, currently serves on its Executive Committee, and is Chairman of the Past Chairman’s Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is a certified public accountant.
Asim Haque
Asim Haque serves as Senior Vice President of Governmental & Member Services for PJM Interconnection. He leads PJM’s policy development and interaction with state government, which includes state commissions, governor’s offices, state legislatures and state security agencies. Haque also oversees PJM’s member interactions, which includes the PJM stakeholder process. Prior to joining PJM, Haque was the chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). Haque holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and political science from Case Western Reserve University and a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
Don Huck
Don Huck has spent the last 18 years working as Exploration Manager for Artex Oil Company in Marietta, Ohio. He also serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees for the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, the Operating Committee of the Ohio Natural Energy Institute (formerly OOGEEP), the Board of Trustees for the Southeastern Ohio Oil and Gas Association, the Technical Advisory Council and the Board of Trustees for Ohio811. Don received a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Marietta College in 1987 and currently resides in Lancaster, Ohio, with his wife Pam.
Andrew Kashat
Andrew Kashat is manager of business development for DT Midstream, where he is responsible for developing and advancing DTM’s decarbonization business platform including the company’s carbon capture and sequestration project. Prior to his business development role, he served as manager of gas storage operations, and as a project manager where he managed the design, construction, and in-service of gathering systems, dehydration equipment and compressor stations. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University, a Master of Science in Global Operations and Project Management from Lawrence Technological University, and an Executive MBA from Michigan State University. Andrew lives in the Detroit area with his wife, Danielle, and his son, Isaac.
Tyler Levengood
Tyler Levengood is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production operations at Sound Energy Company. A graduate of Ohio University, Tyler spent the early years of his professional career as a business intelligence (BI) consultant before returning to the family business in 2014. He is currently the Co-Chair of the Ohio Oil & Gas Association Producers Committee. He resides in New Philadelphia, OH with his wife, Kaylan, and their 3 children Emilia, Bennett, and Collins.
Nickolaus Munoz
Nickolaus Munoz leads Williams’ safe, reliable, and efficient gathering operations in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. He has 19 years of experience in upstream and midstream operations in US gas basins. In that time, he has led operations teams, asset commissioning teams, engineering teams, and most recently, served as Director of Technical Services for all G&P assets nationwide. He holds an MBA with Finance Specialization from LSU-Shreveport, a BAAS from TAMU-Commerce, and an AAS from San Juan College.
Rob Rains
Rob Rains joined Washington Analysis in April 2013 as an Energy Analyst with an emphasis on gas and electric utilities, renewable energy, energy infrastructure, including pipelines, liquefied natural gas, electric transmission, and deals in the sector. Prior to joining Washington Analysis, Rob worked for Capstone, another policy analysis firm. Before Capstone, Rob spent five years as a Sr. Government Relations Representative for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a trade association and global technical standards developer, focusing on energy and environmental issues. Rob began his career on Capitol Hill where he worked for Congressman Brian Baird and Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones. A Shaker Heights native, Rob earned his JD from The Catholic University of America and holds a B.A. in Political Science and English-Journalism from Miami University (Ohio). He is also a long-suffering Cleveland Browns fan.
Whitney Stanco
Whitney Stanco is a Senior Energy Analyst at Washington Analysis LLC, where she covers legislative, regulatory, foreign policy, tax and legal issues affecting the sector. She previously served as a Senior Advisor at The Rapidan Group, where she covered U.S. policy in the context of energy markets. She has also worked as a consultant for BP in Houston, and for Accenture in Germany. A native of West Texas, she received her B.B.A in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin and her M.A. in International Relations with concentrations in energy economics and finance at the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
Eric Vendel
Eric Vendel has worked at ODNR since 2012 and currently serves as the chief of the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management. He previously served as an attorney with the Ohio Legislative Service Commission. He holds a J.D. from Capital University Law School, a master’s degree in organic chemistry from The Ohio State University, and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Wittenberg University.
